PENANG Youth Development Corporation (PYDC) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Big Domain Sdn Bhd to set up the Penang Youth Digital Platform.
The MoU was signed by PYDC general manager Dr Gwee Sai Ling and Big Domain co-founder and chief executive officer Henry Tye with state youth and sports committee chairman Soon Lip Chee as the witness.
Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow said the project’s objective was to train up to 1,000 youths in digital skills within two years.
“The bigger objective is to develop Penang into a digital hub, in line with the state’s Penang 2030, part of which is to raise household income.
“The platform will serve as a medium to match digital talents with digital services needed by operators, ” said Chow at a press conference in Komtar recently.
Big Domain, said Chow, would fully sponsor the digital platform through PYDC’s website and all training programmes and digital talent developments would be implemented by PYDC.
Under the digital programme, training programmes such as key opinion leader and influencer, Industry 4.0, e-commerce, designers, press releases, copy writing and video editing would be introduced.
“The training programme is open to Malaysian youths born in Penang and aged between 18 and 30 years old, including those who have lived in the state for at least three consecutive years.
“Big Domain as the main administrator of the project will invite partners such as Moden Academy, EVO Marketing, Digital Marketing Network and KK eCommerce to conduct training and development programmes.
“LiveNow KOL Training session will be held by Alibaba Group and Moden Academy on Sept 12 and 13, which will train youths on how to be key opinion leaders, ” said Chow.
Present at the event were state exco members Jagdeep Singh Deo and Yeoh Soon Hin, Digital Marketing Network chief executive officer Bob Lay and Moden Academy co-founder and production lead Chuah Thian Hiang.
