CYBERJAYA: The Malaysia Tech Month 2021 returns for the second year.

Organised by the Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC), the month-long virtual events will feature digital and technology content geared toward promoting investments in the digital economy.

Taking place from 29 July till 30 August 2021, MTM ’21 will host over 40 events and more than 300 local and international industry speakers and investors.

Targeting more than 20,000 participants from over 50 countries, MTM ’21 will kick off with a two-day anchor event on July 29, which will be headlined by Professor Dr Michio Kaku who will be speaking on the topic of the “Five Big Ideas That Will Shape Our Future”.

Through varied and diverse keynotes, workshops, discussion panels and matching sessions, these industry leaders and tech innovators will be sharing their thoughts and experiences on the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR), current and future trends in technology, and the digital economy as a whole.

“The event gives us the opportunity to broaden our minds and engage in conversations that ultimately drives us towards enabling a nation that is deeply integrated with technology and with equitable digital opportunities to the people and businesses – Malaysia 5.0,” said MDEC’s CEO, Surina Shukri.

The content for MTM ’21 will be encapsulating MDEC’s NADI Digital pillars where in week one, the focus is Malaysia being the Heart of Digital Investments where participants can engage with experts and existing investors on how they can establish and grow in the country.

Digital Ecosystem will be the theme set for week two where participants will be exposed to business ecosystem and digitalisation by utilising the 4IR tools, and understanding vital aspects such as cybersecurity.

In week three, the focus will be on digital skills. The week delves into topics like jobs and careers in the digital economy, the digital tools that can enhance the workforce, and exploring the future of work.

In the final week, expect contents on disruptors and deep-dives into the digital-led disruptions of today, from Islamic fintech and cryptocurrency to mobile commerce, digital banks and mobile esports.

The MTM ’21 also kick-starts MDEC’s 25th Anniversary Silver Jubilee celebration which begins with a special chat on the agency’s journey since its inception in 1996 by featuring past MDEC executives and partners.

“This year marks an important milestone for MDEC as we celebrate our 25th anniversary. In many ways, MTM ’21 is the celebration of the progress and achievements we’ve made since we were founded in 1996 to realise the dream of the Multimedia Super Corridor. There’s no better way for us to celebrate our Silver Jubilee than to do what we do best – driving innovation and empowering the people towards digital transformation,” said Surina.
